Episode 174 | Angela Barnes

This week Cariad talks to stand-up comedian Angela Barnes (Mock The Week, Live at The Apollo, The News Quiz) about her dad, Derek, who died from a heart attack when Angela was thirty-one, and one of her closest friends, stand-up comedian Phil Jerrod, who died from sarcoma last year in 2021. As ever we talk grief, talking till you're done and having a wedding in the middle of a death.

You can be grieving, going through the most horrible time but if some friends invite you out to the pub, go to the pub and have a laugh. Those other things aren’t going to go… Good things can happen at really bad times and if you don’t enjoy them in the moment then all you’ve got is the bad stuff. Well that’s no good to anyone.
